#NewQT Learning Enough is Enough

Mom’s celebrate their special day this month.

We should, however, celebrate the NEW in us this month. Most of us have explored aspects of ourselves we never knew existed. You’ve been able to experience what I’ve lived for 30 years, and that’s being a “stay at home mom.” Not so glamorous as some big corporate executive jobs, but raise your hand and drop a heart in the comments if you’ve seen a change in your heart these #newqt days. New quarantine thoughts should be a new rollercoaster ride at a theme park. One day we’re, “I got this girl… You know I cleaned out all my cabinets, mowed the lawn and every single thing in this house has gone through the laundry!” Then one day, “I gotta get out of bed? Really, can’t you pour your own bowl of cereal. And you don’t even need milk with it because watching Netflix all day is fine without a mess of milk.” Drop a heart in the comments if you can relate.

Makeup is for special days out.

Not in this house. Our QT life even with only teenagers in the house has brought out themed days. E-girl has been my favorite. Let’s be real. Having the same faces day in and day out all day has given us all new eyes and a heart of gratitude. Think of your kid’s teachers or the caregiver at the daycare or yet, the server at your favorite restaurant, because they’ve been the ones bringing you extra joy. Once we’re back to normal do an extra special blessing for just them. Giving is expressed in a million forms.

In the meantime, this month of May may open up possibilities.

Don’t be going back to business as usual, that is if we ever get the chance to do it? Be on the pro-active side of life. What have you added to your wheelhouse of learning in this time of quarantine? (Gardening, cooking, online fitness, bike riding, checkers, painting? And yes, I made this creative tic-tac-toe with a stepping stone and rocks from the yard.) Isolation doesn’t mean new frustration! Isolation brings the celebration of collaboration through inspiration. Isolation in our house brought higher education. I feel like a Dr. Suess book. (I’m a new YouTuber at age of 56 ½ )

You’re kidding yourself if you think you’ve learned nothing from separation. Tell me one take away from the last 40 days. That’s right! YOU ARE ENOUGH! You got this! You thought there was no way at all you could collaborate with your family on a level that you’ve achieved. Our excuses include I’m too old. I’m too young. I’m too tired. I’m not smart. I’m overqualified. I’m here to tell you, I get you.

Mom, I want you to know I’m in that boat rowing right there with you.

I may have grey-haired roots (ya know I color my hair blue and purple) but our mom’s hearts are all one. We’re the nurturer of the family. We’re the ones who might feel on the back burner of being appreciated. We’re the ones that every single person goes to when they’ve lost something. We are needed. We are enough. We need each other.

Recently I reached out to a fellow #momtrepreneur. She’s a mother “who runs a business out of her home, implicitly to earn extra income without the commitment of traditional employment.”  Vanessa has 4 kids under 10. She lives in a smaller place by choice. I’ve been following her on Instagram. @theenneagramworkshop Post after post I find myself saying, “she’s the mom I wish I was at her age.” Then I’m reminded, I am enough. She’s stepped out of her comfort zone to produce an educational enneagram website/Instagram to empower others. That’s right, she’s sharing her knowledge as she expanded her wheelhouse of knowledge. Is it scary to try new things? Uh… yes! But when you “step out you find out.” Online classes, Corporate trainings, Virtual 1:1, and team coaching are some things she offers.

Now was this an overnight one click and your done event? Of course not, and so is the idea you have in your head right now! We’re running a marathon. We’re training for when the time is right, (and you know it’s never the “right” time for kids, moving or any change) you squeeze the trigger and BAM! You’ve launched an adventure.

Did you ever think about the founder of the Fort Lauderdale Mom’s Blog? Yep, she said “Let’s do this!” and she did. I’ve even bit off more than I can chew at this point. My YouTube channel launched during this #newqt quest. My kids have been after me for months to begin Vlogging and shooting fitness videos. I plunged right in. I am good enough. (not perfect) And that’s because I’m sharing from my heart, my experience, and my struggles. My voice, just like your voice is a magical journey of knowledge to pour into another mom’s life.

Aging and having kids doesn’t hold you back from that dream.

I’ve been that mom looking for an oasis of inspiration.

Today listen to that “still small voice in your heart.”

(And if your house is loud, you may need to sequester to a closet for a moment.

Tell your family you’re looking for something, because you are…silence to hear.)

I personally invite you to try something new, be inspired, and join me on my new adventure…subscribe to my YouTube Channel today! It’s the one thing you can do for yourself to be motivated, be real, and get inspired.

Never stop self-promoting, never stop dreaming, and always challenge yourself. Look I just did! Mentor women need women. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Listening takes effort.

Dreams never die, they simply change.

You’re positioned to be the best you that you can become.  You’re learning through this Mother’s Day month to acquire a superior skill set. Remember there’s always a mom who’s older and wiser and a mom who’s a newbie. Granny has some knowledge and I just happen to have purple hair too. Explore! Age or circumstances do not have to hold you back. Take the baby steps to your journey of a lifetime. Ya know that toddler you taught to walk did fall a few times and you may too.

Happy Mother’s Month, because we need more than just one day of appreciation!
